To Truths & A Lie - Introduction

Hello,

Welcome to Miss. Rylee's Educational Journey Blog! I'm super excited to have some new faces here at the blog, its been awhile. I will start with a little introduction about myself and my life, let's get started! 

 I grew up in a small town in Northeast Missouri near the Mark Twain Lake. As you can imagine I spent a lot of time outdoors, swimming, boating, kayaking and much more! When I moved out the day after High School graduation, I spent the summer with my sister at The Lake of The Ozark's working at a summer camp, then moved to Columbia to start a new chapter in my life...college! 

After two years of living in Columbia I bumped into the man of my dreams and best friend that I get to marry this October (go away corona). We have a black lab named Winston who just turned 3 today, and loves water!! We all love to spend time outdoors wether it is going back to Mark Twain lake and boating or exploring his family farm. 
Here we are still today, so close to getting married and finishing my Bachelors from Columbia College in Elementary Education. I will be able to student teach in the Spring of 2021 and I know it will be here before I know it.

  • I absolutely love seafood and could eat it for every meal! 
  • I'm an Oil lady and use essential oils for everything, even deodorant! 
  • We have our own growing youtube channel that has 101 subscribers!

    Awe we have a lab too! He is a yellow lab named Remi. Congrats on getting married soon! How exciting. Fingers crossed Corona is all gone by then!
    I'm going to say that the lie is seafood. I just can't see someone loving it that much to want to eat it every day. Maybe it is because I hate most of it though. Haha

    Hey Rylee, its so nice to have you in class again! Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! I hope all is well by then. Your dog is adorable! I'm glad I am not the only one who celebrates my dogs birthday! I will be student teaching in the spring too. We are almost there! Hmm I think the YouTube one is a lie.

    Congratulations on your engagement. I can believe you have a YouTube channel because I have one but I'm not sure....I'm going to take the gander and say that the second one about you being an oil lady is a lie.

    Hey Rylee! We are SO close to being done! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I got married in October, so I'm a little biased but I think its a pretty great month. I am going to guess that number 1 is a lie, mostly because I can't imagine someone loving seafood that much (especially when we live in Missouri haha!)

    Can't wait to see your wedding pictures, you're going to look so beautiful! I think I have an unfair advantage in this game because we are friends on social media. I'm gonna go ahead and say you don't like sea food. Great to have class together again!

Into the Future.... I am so excited to be able to be in my own classroom implementing all these amazing ideas and strategies that I have learned over the years at Columbia College. One thing that I have been super excited about and that I have held near and dear to my heart during this last stretch of my education is reading and how that will look in my future classroom. It is hard to imagine because you really do not know where you will end up especially fresh out of college. 5 Books For My Unit Plan!

The Fabulous Five:  In my unit plan this semester I have obtained some fun books that help me teach my students how to recognize characters and settings, character traits, comparing and contrast characters, cause and effect, and recognizing begging, middle, and end. Here is a list and how I will use it in the lesson.  1. The Rainbow Fish - Students will be able to describe the character and setting in this story by creating a character and setting Pyramid.  2. Where The Wild Things Are -  students will be able to describe the characters and setting, by writing and illustrating what they read. They will be doing this by listing the different characters, writing a sentence about their  traits and then drawing a picture.  3.  Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs -  Students will be able to describe the character traits of the main characters and compare and contrast them using a Venn diagram. 4.  A Bad Case of Str...
