All About Me

Hello,

My name is Rylee Gooding I am 23 years old and have lived in Columbia, MO for about 5 years. I love Columbia and all that it has to offer. This is where I met my fiance Josh in 2016 who is a graduate from Columbia College, and we plan to stick around. We are getting married October 10, 2020 so you can find me wedding planning until then. We have a black lab named Winston, and a black cat named Zolah we love both of them so much and enjoy spending time with them. In our free time you can find us outdoors at Josh's family farm, on the lake, or shopping at Sams. We enjoy boating, hunting, fishing, and shopping of course.

I have received my Associates degree from Moberly Area Community College, and this is currently my second semester at Columbia College. I am studying Elementary Education, and plan to get my Special Education certification as well. I work full time at the University Hospital as a patient service representative, and am taking on college full time. I am a very busy person, but that's how I like it. I would describe myself as a caring, and a hardworking person. I am very excited about my future in education, I love children and would feel such gratitude to be teaching our future.

    Hey Rylee,
    It is great to hear your story and about your life. I think that it is wonderful that you want to work with special education students. It takes a patient person to work with students with special needs. I understand what the stresses are of wedding planning. I recently got married and it is all very stressful. I was so stressed out even on the day of my wedding, I was not able to calm down until I was home from the honeymoon. I wish you best of luck with planning! I wish you best of luck with your journey with school and I wish you best of luck with this semester.

    Hi Rylee! Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials! I love the date too - 10/10/2020! Wedding planning can be stressful, just remember it is YOUR day!!! I'm sure it will turn out exactly as you want it to. You do have a lot going on between work, school and planning a wedding, but sometimes being busy is what pushes us to strive even harder for success.

    It is awesome that you know the direction you want to take with your studies! I'm nearing 40 and have changed my mind a few times in the course of this new journey, so needless to say I am impressed. :)

Into the Future.... I am so excited to be able to be in my own classroom implementing all these amazing ideas and strategies that I have learned over the years at Columbia College. One thing that I have been super excited about and that I have held near and dear to my heart during this last stretch of my education is reading and how that will look in my future classroom. It is hard to imagine because you really do not know where you will end up especially fresh out of college. I do know that teaching reading is going to be something that I truly will look forward to in my classroom. Which is almost strange to me because I never really cared to read growing up and I really do not read very much now. 5 Books For My Unit Plan!

The Fabulous Five:  In my unit plan this semester I have obtained some fun books that help me teach my students how to recognize characters and settings, character traits, comparing and contrast characters, cause and effect, and recognizing begging, middle, and end. Here is a list and how I will use it in the lesson.  1. The Rainbow Fish - Students will be able to describe the character and setting in this story by creating a character and setting Pyramid.  2. Where The Wild Things Are -  students will be able to describe the characters and setting, by writing and illustrating what they read.
